​The first PLEP conference took place from 8-12 May 2022, with sessions on the origin of life, the origin of the genetic code, population genetics, and evolutionary strategies for exploring protein space. The conference was attended by over 100 delegates, with robust and extended discussion following each session, a particularly special feature of the meeting.
